1. Determining a Location
When determining a location for your new synthetic putting green, consider
room for chipping to the green. Check out the water flow
of your backyard or the area the putting green is to be
installed. Avoid low spots because you want the water to
run off the artificial putting green and not collect on the green and
potentially erode your sub-base.
You
can take a cord, string, or rope and lay it in the general
shape that you desire. If you are adding fringe material, the
width of the fringe must be considered in the size of the total
green. You should lay out your golf putting green so
that the width is in multiples of 12' or 15' (width of turf). The widths can be
seamed together and the length can be cut to any length.

Experiment with different sizes. You want your putting
green to be an adequate size for your needs. You may want
to consider leaving your layout in place for a day or two to
make sure you're satisfied with it before ordering your turf.
We suggest that once you have determined the
size and shape that you are satisfied with, you can take a can
of paint and spray the perimeter shape.
